Marco Benevento will issue his first live album since 2017 with the release of Barn Burner: Live At Levon’s on March 29th, 2024. The jubilant jam-pop piano man recorded the live double album on January 13th and 14th, 2024 at late The Band drummer Levon Helm‘s legendary Woodstock, NY barn/concert venue Levon Helm Studios.

Joined by his band featuring bassist Karina Rykman and drummer Chris Corsico, Benevento delivers a career retrospective on Barn Burner as he touches on his eight studio albums across the 13 tracks. Marco also nods to the venue’s dearly departed owner with a cover of Bob Dylan and The Band’s “This Wheel’s On Fire” with his Joe Russo’s Almost Dead bandmate Scott Metzger on guitar. Along with the announcement, Benevento shared live takes on “Coyote Hearing”, “Send It On A Rocket”, and “Oh Baby Can’t You See”.

“Our shows at Levon’s barn are always among my favorites. I can literally walk to the gig from my house, but even more important, the vibes are amazing. The staff, the sound, the intimacy and energy of the audience, and of course, Levon’s spirit burning bright inside those four walls, is like nowhere else in the world,” Benevento said. “After several years of playing there, it seemed like the right time to multitrack the shows and pick my favorites for official release. We were on fire both nights. Karina and Chris sound so, so good playing these tunes! I think our fans will love having a document of the band at this point in our history.”

Barn Burner captures a rare live appearance from Benevento, who has shied away from large-scale touring since the pandemic. Instead, he has spent more time at his Fred Short Recording studio in Woodstock recording with Mark Ronson, Black Thought, El Michels Affair, Clairo, Roge, Molly Lewis, and a posthumous collaboration with Bernie Worrell. He’s also tracking his ninth studio album, which is inspired by his favorite Italian movie score composers.

In lieu of touring, Benevento has invited fans to his adopted home of New York’s Hudson Valley where he hosts the curated Follow The Arrow festival as well as the occasional gathering at Levon Helm Studios. Marco also recently headlined the Stop Woodstock National LLC benefit for the Woodstock Land Conservancy and its efforts to stop the construction of a golf course and luxury condos on 625 acres of forest land.

“After the pandemic, we made a decision to slow things down a bit on the touring front,” says Benevento. “There’s been lots of opportunities to work on recording projects and record artists at my studio, Fred Short Recording, while getting to spend a little more time with my family. It’s so beautiful up in the Catskills, so we’re playing more shows around these parts and inviting our fans to come up to hang with us in the country!”
