Though winter is quickly approaching, the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is already looking to spring with the announcement of Suwannee Spring Reunion 2024. The Americana/bluegrass/folk music festival will return to the Live Oak, FL musical hotbed March 21st–24th with headliners Sam BushRailroad Earth, and Steep Canyon Rangers.

Also on tap for the sixth annual Suwannee Spring Reunion are bluegrass luminary Peter Rowan with his Walls of Time Band, roots rock outfit Donna the Buffalo, barefoot bard Keller Williams‘ Pettygrass tribute to Tom Petty featuring The HillBendersBetty LaVetteThe Steel WheelsTown MountainSeth WalkerJon Stickley TrioFireside CollectiveDarrell ScottJim Lauderdale, and many more, with fiddler John Mailander serving as artist-at-large. The festival includes many longtime friends of Suwannee making their annual pilgrimage, along with plenty of fresh faces.

“From the very beginning, in 1997, with our first festival at SOSMP (Suwannee SpringFest), we set an intention of a community of love and healing and music and positive impact on the lives of the people who were there,” festival director Beth Judy said. “And we attracted those people who needed that in their lives, and many of them are still coming. The Suwannee Spring Reunion is a new version of the events we began so long ago when music festivals were just starting to pop up again after Jerry [Garcia]’s passing. Springfest and Magfest had changed and evolved over the years and now we are gathering everyone together for the big reunion and revival of what commenced during those early years.”

That connection is tangible to the festival staff, attendees, and artists who have made Suwannee a sacred place for live music in the Southeast.

“There’s this unique, communal spirit here, where it’s homelike for us,” headliner Sam Bush said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “And you find yourself thinking about some of our brethren that aren’t here anymore, but especially Vassar [Clements]—he ruled this place.”

In addition to the dozens of artists on the lineup, Suwanee Spring Reunion will come alive after hours with pop-up performances throughout the 800-acre campground. The Bill Monroe Shrine and Slopryland host open stages and invite any and all musicians from headliners to weekend campers to bring an instrument and join in communal jam sessions. Out in the campgrounds, cleverly named campsites—many of which have grown into family traditions—pop off with their own renegade pickathons.

Of course, all-night picking parties aren’t for everyone, so Suwannee has specific camping areas set aside for those who value their quiet time. The family-friendly festival also offers a multitude of outdoor activities including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, yoga, and disc golf.

Tickets for Suwannee Spring Reunion 2024 are on sale now. The festival offers weekend passes which include festival admission for four days of music and primitive camping Thursday–Sunday night. Military and student discounts are available, with children 12 and under admitted free if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Ticket prices will increase to the next tier on January 14th. The festival will offer various add-ons including upgraded camping, RV hookups, cabin rentals, and golf cart rentals. For complete ticketing details click here.
