This weekend’s episode of PBS‘s Austin City Limits featuring Foo Fighters is sure to be one of the program’s most rocking shows to date, but frontman Dave Grohl takes a decidedly different tact in the first preview of the performance with a powerful solo rendition of “Everlong”.
“I don’t like to say goodbye, so I just say good night like this,” Grohl said introducing the tune from the Foos’ 1997 album The Colour and the Shape, which he played solo on electric guitar to cap off the band’s set.
Filmed last month and premiering this Saturday, November 18th at 8 p.m. ET, Foo Fighters’ full performance on Austin City Limits includes four songs from the band’s recent Grammy-nominated album, But Here We Are, as well as the classic “Times Like These”, “Aurora” (dedicated to late drummer Taylor Hawkins), and more recent cuts like “No Son of Mine”, “La Dee Da”, and “The Sky Is a Neighborhood”.
Foo Fighters previously appeared on the program in 2009 and 2015. Highlights from the performances were compiled into an hour-long special released in 2021.
Foo Fighters recently performed on Saturday Night Live, where they welcomed H.E.R. to play But Here We Are track “The Glass”. H.E.R. is due to drop her own version of the song on Friday.
The Foos will finish the year with shows in Abu Dhabi and Australia, and next summer they will hit the road for a stadium tour beginning June 13th in Manchester, U.K., before returning stateside for North American dates starting July 17th at New York’s Citi Field.
