Watch The String Cheese Incident’s Debut Farm Aid Set

The String Cheese Incident performed at Farm Aid for the first time when the annual event was held in September at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. Official video of the band’s five-song set at the amphitheater formerly known as Deer Creek has been shared by Farm Aid.

Farm Aid 2023 also featured performances by board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews (with Tim Reynolds) and Margo Price. Among the other performers on the 2023 lineup were Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson, Allison Russell and Particle Kid. Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan also played a surprise three-song set.

For their debut Farm Aid performance, The String Cheese Incident stuck to their original material. The Colorado-based band’s time on the Deer Creek stage began with “Can’t Wait Another Day.” SCI then delivered the title track to their 2023 studio album, Lend Me A Hand, which was released weeks before the set. Bassist Keith Moseley sang lead on “Lend Me A Hand,” which was first played live by SCI in 2021.

“Colorado Bluebird Sky” — like the opener, also from the band’s 2014 studio album Song In My Head — came in the middle of the Farm Aid set. Mandolinist/fiddler Michael Kang’s frequently played favorite “Shine” segued into the instrumental “Hi Ho No Show” to complete the band’s first Farm Aid performance.
