Rage Against The Machine will enter the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame at tonight’s ceremony held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The momentous honor coincides with today being the 32nd anniversary of the release of RATM’s landmark self-titled debut album.

While promos for tonight’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony have not confirmed Rage Against The Machine’s participation in the event, the show will be streamed live on Disney+, marking the first time viewers will be able to watch the Rock Hall induction ceremony as it happens.

Released by Epic Records on November 3, 1992, Rage Against The Machine showcased the hard-charging, politically infused concoction of rock and rap produced by vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk. The album contained some of the best-known RATM songs, including “Bombtrack,” “Killing in the Name,” “Bullet in the Head,” “Know Your Enemy,” “Wake Up” and “Freedom.” When RATM toured in support of their debut album they proved their live performances were just as explosive as the sounds they captured in the studio.

Rage Against The Machine’s second album, Evil Empire arrived in 1996 and once again presented de la Rocha’s socially aware lyrics, Morello’s ferocious guitar playing and Wilk and Commerford’s pulsating grooves. While on tour that year in support of their sophomore LP, RATM played two shows in Chicago, not far from where Morello was raised in the Libertyville suburb (Wilk also spent time living in Chicago as a child).

Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom hosted the first of two nights of Rage Against The Machine on September 16, 1996. The setlist contained six songs off their debut album, “Bombtrack,” “Bullet in the Head,” “Freedom,” “Killing in the Name,” “Know Your Enemy,” and “Township Rebellion.” Seven songs from Evil Empire were also played, “Down Rodeo,” “People of the Sun,” “Revolver,” “Tire Me,” “Vietnow,” “Without a Face” and the standout, “Bulls on Parade.”

Before taking the stage at the Aragon on night one, Morello’s mother, Mary Morello, introduced the band. A courageous political activist and Chicagoland native, in 1987 Mary Morello founded the anti-censorship organization Parents for Rock and Rap.

Mary celebrated her 100th birthday last month with a celebration Tom threw for her that included a performance by a band of 12 and 13-year-olds featuring Tom’s son Roman on guitar. Jack Black of Tenacious D/School of Rock fame, joined the band for Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mr. Crowley.”

Back in September 1996, Mary Morello took the stage at the Aragon and told the crowd “I’d like to introduce the best fucking band in the universe … from Los Angeles, California: Rage Against The Machine!”

The audience roared in reaction as her son’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame band kicked into “People of the Sun.” Watch the badass introduction and the full concert below:
