Willie Nelson stopped by the Ed Sullivan Theater last night to perform on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert ahead of his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Friday.
The nonagenarian country legend had a commanding presence as he played “I Never Cared For You” with the all-star band that will perform his tribute at this weekend’s induction ceremony, featuring his son Micah Nelson on acoustic guitar, Don Was on bass, Terence Higgins on drums, Matt Rollings on organ, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, and Paul Franklin on pedal steel. First released as a single in 1964, “I Never Cared For You” will appear on Nelson’s new Greatest Hits collection, which is due out on Friday. The album is available for pre-order here.
