Funk pioneer Bootsy Collins has released a pair of new tracks, “Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame” and “We Outta B Funkin’”, each tied to one of his ongoing cultural preservation and activism endeavors.
The first single, “Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame”, was created to be the official theme song for its titular attraction. The funky promo for the free, family-focused Walk of Fame in Bootsy’s native city features a slew of notable local exports including Penny Ford (Snap!, Klymaxx, Soul II Soul), Terry Troutman (Zapp), Reggie Calloway (Midnight Star, Calloway), Vincent Calloway (Calloway), and T.nava Avant (Free Nationals) in addition to Bootzilla himself of bass, guitar, drums, and vocals.
The new track was unveiled during a ceremony at the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame on Friday. For more information on the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame, head here.

The second new Bootsy Collins track to arrive on Friday, “We Outta B Funkin’”, an appeal for funk and peace over violence, features contributions from Myra Washington, Soopafly, and Temu Bascot. It was released alongside the announcement of the Bootsy Collins Foundation and Funk Not Fight‘s inaugural Funk Not Fight Rally4 Peace. The rally, scheduled to take place on December 30th, 2023 at Victory Outreach Ministries Compton in Compton, CA, aims to address “the pressing issue of violence affecting the lives of Compton residents, particularly the younger generation. With a focus on fostering positivity, engagement, and understanding, the event seeks to provide opportunities that will contribute to the well-being of the Compton community.”
