Joe Russo has announced his rotating improvisational project This Is Gonna Be A Blast will return to The Sultan Room in Brooklyn for Vol 3 with a lineup featuring Phish bassist Mike Gordon; organ wizard Robert Walter of The Greyboy Allstars, Roger Waters, and Mike Gordon’s solo band, and guitarist Nick Bockrath of Cage The Elephant.
TIGBAB launched in October with Vol 1 featuring Andrew Barr, Brad Barr of The Slip, Marco Benevento, and Russo. The JRAD bandleader then revived the project for Vol 2 just last week with an illness-dictated twist on his Boyfriends project, dubbed Friends of Boyfriends, featuring drummer Ben Perowski, saxophonist Stuart Bogie, guitarist Jonathan Goldberger, and bassist Chris Morrissey.
On Tuesday, January 21st, a fresh lineup will come together for two improvisational shows, an early and a late show, and you know it’s gonna be a blast.

After This Is Gonna Be Blast Vol 3, Joe Russo will return to The Sultan Room on Thursday, January 25th with his Selcouth Quartet featuring Stuart Bogie on saxophone, flute, clarinet, and keys, Jon Shaw on acoustic and electric basses, and Jonathan Goldberger on acoustic and electric guitars to celebrate the release of the band’s self-titled debut album.
