After announcing an initial lineup topped by Old Crow Medicine Show, Turnpike Troubadours, Nickel Creek, The Teskey Brothers, and Sam Bush last month, MerleFest organizers have detailed the full 2024 artist lineup, adding Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Larkin Poe, Lukas Nelson & POTR, Sierra Hull, Béla Fleck My Bluegrass Heart, and more.
Founded in 1988 by late bluegrass master Doc Watson in memory of his son Eddy Merle Watson, MerleFest will return for its 36th year on April 25th–28th, 2024 on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC. Also joining the artist lineup are Dan Tyminski Band, acclaimed songwriter Brandy Clark (who is nominated for six Grammys this year), fast-rising punk rocker-turned-country fixture Nick Shoulders, and many more.
This diverse group of over two dozen performers rounds out an impressive lineup featuring Jerry Douglas, The Earls of Leicester, Peter Rowan, Donna the Buffalo, Jim Lauderdale, Kruger Brothers, Darin & Brooke Aldridge, Chatham County Line, Chatham Rabbits, John McEuen, Willi Carlisle, and Adeem the Artist. Committed to illuminating the profound impact of its founding father, MerleFest aims to pay equal homage to pioneers of the folk movement and fresh, burgeoning voices in the scene. Last year, the festival commemorated both its 35th year in operation and Doc’s 100th birthday. Drawing over 75,000 patrons to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains each spring, MerleFest’s celebrated “traditional plus” experience maintains its status as a bucket-list musical pilgrimage for fans of folk, bluegrass, and beyond.
MerleFest 2024 tickets are available now. For general admission passes, as well as patio seating, reserved seating, camping, parking, and more, visit the festival’s website here.
