The String Cheese Incident will take a “deep dive” on New Year’s Eve with a thematic three-set show celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary. The tripleheader will culminate the band’s three-night run at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA on December 29th, 30th, and 31st.

Ever the showmen, the members of String Cheese Incident announced a few details of the impending NYE run, including the appearances of special guests Peter Rowan and banjoist Tony Furtado, who will join the party on December 30th. On the 31st, The String Cheese Incident will stage a three-set “deep dive” performance with each frame corresponding to a decade of the band’s 30-year career.

“30th Anniversaries are typically honored with diamonds and pearls, and this anniversary will be no different,” the band wrote on social media. “Those who join SCI on the New Year’s Eve deep dive will experience hidden treasures they’ve only dreamed of seeing bubble back to the surface, and fans should plan to dress for an aquatic soirée.”

Cheese’s New Year’s Eve show will put an exclamation point on the band’s year-long 30th anniversary celebration. Back in September, the band released Lend Me A Hand, its first studio album since 2016. The folk-leaning album served as a springboard for the bandmembers to reflect on what the past three decades have brought ranging from loss to love and everything in between.

“Someone told me recently, gratitude is the grease that keeps the wheels of life turning,” bassist Keith Moseley told Live For Live Music in a recent interview, “and I keep coming back to that as kind of a mantra because I think it’s really true. I think that the gratitude keeps you in check and keeps you in a good place mentally and emotionally, and it’s just a good reality check.”

The band recently staged another anniversary celebration with the tenth edition of its Suwanee Hulaween festival. The Halloween hootenanny at the Spirit of Suwanee Music Park in Live Oak, FL saw Cheese howl at the moon with fans for a “full moon family reunion” during the theatrical “Shebang” set. Tickets for The String Cheese Incident’s three-night New Year’s Eve run, including three-day passes, are on sale via the band’s website. Cheese also recently announced the lineup for Electric Forest, set to return to Rothbury, MI from June 20th–23rd. Check out the full lineup here.
