Neighbor returned to Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY Saturday night for an intimate show featuring an acoustic set and the debut of a new tune entitled “Old Dog”.

The beloved Boston-based band opened the show with an unplugged set (with the exception of Dan Kelly‘s electric bass). The stripped-down frame featured several originals, including a show-opening “Chickens” with the lyrics changed to “Levon’s barn is in dismay,” and covers of Jerry Garcia Band‘s “Gomorrah” and Doc Watson‘s “Deep River Blues”.

Neighbor then plugged in for a high-voltage second set that opened with “Carmelita” and “10 Years Behind”. The band then showed off some new tricks with the debut of “Old Dog” and concluded the set with “Stranger Part Of Town” featuring Stephen Eshner on vocals for the last verse and Tom Papp quotes.

“To say that Levon Helm Studios is a special place would be the understatement of the century,” the band wrote in a social media post recapping the weekend, which also included a stop at Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs, NY. “The history of Levon, The Band and his resurgence with The Midnight Rambles is one of rock’n roll folklore, and though he has passed you can’t help but feel that you’re standing in the presence of a musical giant. Rooms like this make you dig a little deeper, try a little harder and do everything in your power to rise to the occasion. Thank you to everyone at Levon’s for treating us and our fans so well. It was a night we’ll never forget.”
