Eggy kicked off what is sure to be another stellar year for the Connecticut quartet with two shows at Tree House Brewing Company in South Deerfield, MA.
The special two-night event doubled as a celebration commemorating the second anniversary of Tree House Brewing Company’s Deerfield taproom. “We have a particular affinity for the group since they often played our taproom in the early days of Charlton and even our memorable October in the Field way back in 2018,” the company wrote in a social media post before the shows.
After kicking off the weekend celebration on Friday with a playful tease of Phish‘s “The Moma Dance” and a couple big jam sandwiches, an approaching storm threatened to put a damper on night two, but the masters of improvisation reacted by pushing the show up to 4:00 in the afternoon to keep everyone safe and avoid getting snowed in.
Saturday’s show included an adventurous “Sweaters For Strawmen” with The Band‘s “Don’t Do It ” jammed in the middle of the song, as well as a callback to the band’s 2022 Halloween show with Elton John‘s “Bad Side of the Moon” and more recent additions “You”, “Come Up Slow”, and “Smile”.
