Savannah Music Festival has added a number of new acts to the lineup for its lengthy 2024 event, set to take place in venues across Savannah, GA’s National Historic Landmark District over 17 days in March and April.
The extensive series of jazz, classical, American and global roots music, and more will now feature performances by a pair of musicians with famous fathers who have forged their own decorated career paths, Rosanne Cash (daughter of outlaw country great Johnny Cash) and Amy Helm (daughter of beloved The Band drummer Levon Helm).
Cash, the singer-songwriter with four Grammy Awards to her name, is set to perform at Lucas Theatre for the Arts on April 3rd alongside her husband and longtime creative partner, John Leventhal. Helm, who served as a member of her father’s band in the ’90s and 2000s, was a founding member of acclaimed roots-rock ensemble Ollabelle, and has released three solo albums in the last decade, will make her Savannah Music Festival debut on April 12th with a performance at the Metal Building at Trustees Garden.
Other newly added Savannah Music Festival 2024 events include an evening with rising blues star Christone “Kingfish” Ingram at Lucas Theatre for the Arts (April 6th) and a closing night party featuring New Orleans favorites Rebirth Brass Band and returning festival closer Eddie 9v.
Other acts due to perform as part of this year’s Savannah Music Festival include Samara Joe (pre-festival kickoff concert, 3/23), Futurebirds / T. Hardy Morris (3/29), Renée Fleming (3/31), Zakir Hussein Trio (4/2), Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder (4/4), Dumpstaphunk / Cha Wa (4/5), Tony Trischka (4/6), Brandee Younger Trio / Immanuel Wilkins Quartet (4/10), Madison Cunningham & Juana Molina (4/11), Mighty Poplar (4/12), and many more.
