In honor of Mardi Gras, New Orleans music legend Ivan Neville has shared an official music video for “Greatest Place on Earth”, the joyous homage to his hometown featured on his acclaimed 2023 solo album, Touch My Soul.
The new video for the track—which features contributions from fellow New Orleanians Trombone Shorty, Ben Jaffe (Preservation Hall Jazz Band), and Charlie Gabriel (Preservation Hall Jazz Band)—takes viewers on a visual journey through the heart of Mardi Gras, with its colorful parades and celebratory street dancing, while also showcasing the powerful connection between Neville and the city that has deeply influenced his music. Dynamic clips of Crescent City traditions like second lines, Mardi Gras Indians, and more flutter in and out as Neville and his ensemble perform the anthem from the historic Preservation Hall.
As Neville said of the clip, “I’m proud to offer a glimpse into the unique & soulful city of New Orleans, my hometown, the greatest place on Earth!” Watch the music video below.
