Skillet ‘Hero’
Skillet is a Christian rock band that merges heavy metal energy with worshipful themes, captivating both secular and spiritual audiences. Originating in Memphis, Tennessee, the band formed in the mid-’90s, initially comprising lead singer and bassist John Cooper, guitarist Ken Steorts, and drummer Trey McClurkin. Their early albums, including the self-titled debut and Hey You, I Love Your Soul, laid the groundwork for their distinctive sound.
In 2001, Skillet’s lineup expanded to include John’s wife, Korey Cooper, on guitar and keyboards, Ben Kasica on guitar, and Lori Peters on drums. This lineup change coincided with their breakthrough album Alien Youth, marking their debut on the Billboard 200 chart.
Subsequent albums like Collide” and Comatose also continued their ascent, but it was 2009’s Awake that propelled them to new heights. Featuring hit singles like “Monster” and “Hero,” the album topped multiple charts and earned them platinum certification.
