Space disco quartet Circles Around The Sun and dutiful Grateful Dead tribute Grateful Shred will team up this spring “for the first and last time” on a joint tour.
The two bands share members Adam MacDougall (keyboards), Dan Horne (bass), and John Lee Shannon (guitar) and have promised “One continuous, distinctive & spectacular show. No breaks!” Drummer Mark Levy rounds out Circles Around The Sun’s lineup while Grateful Shred also features guitarist/vocalist Austin McCutchen, guitarist/vocalist Zeph Ohora, drummer/vocalist Alex Koford, and drummer Austin Beede.
The 13-date dual tour will focus on the Southeast and Texas, kicking off with shows in Austin (5/10) and Dallas (5/11). CATS and Grateful Shred will then traverse the south for shows in Birmingham, AL (5/14), St. Petersburg, FL (5/16), Jacksonville (5/17), Atlanta (5/18), Charlotte (5/19), Huntsville, AL (5/21), Knoxville (5/22), and Asheville, NC (5/23). The tour will then wrap with a three-night run at The Charleston Pour House in South Carolina (5/24–5/26), a frequent destination for CATS where the band recorded a live album in 2021.
A fan club pre-sale for tickets to the Circles Around The Sun and Grateful Shred tour begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time, accessible with code FIRSTANDLAST. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 8th at 10 a.m. local time via either CATS or Grateful Shred’s website. Grateful Shred Industries, Anthems of the Sun, and popular Instagram archivist PHILM will present the tour. This joint outing will follow CATS’ collaborative tour with Mikaela Davis & Southern Star—conversely billed as “together again for the first time”—already in progress.
