Gretta Ray has shared Positive Spin +, a deluxe edition of her second studio album Positive Spin which was released last August. With its release comes a new previously-unreleased single entitled ‘Roses’, which Ray originally wrote with long-time collaborator Gab Strum (AKA Japanese Wallpaper) in 2020 prior to the release of her debut album Begin to Look Around. In a press statement, Ray noted that the song was one that she had been “waiting to share for so long”.

“This warm and optimistic song has always belonged on a version of Positive Spin,” she said. “I’m very excited for everyone to hear the final version, especially my UK fans, seeing as the song is about London.” An accompanying lyric video has been shared for the track, which presents photos from the last eight years of Ray’s career as though they were Polaroid pictures.

In addition to ‘Roses’, Positive Spin + also features two new versions of tracks from the original version of the album: A “reimagined” cut of ‘Upgraded’ and acoustic, piano-led rendition of ‘Heartbreak Baby’. It also features ‘Better’, another Japanese Wallpaper collaboration which was originally released as a stand-alone single in November 2020.

Ray will play two headlining shows in New South Wales next week as part of the Great Southern Nights initiative: One at the Hamilton Station Hotel in Newcastle on Wednesday March 20 and La La La’s in Wollongong on Friday March 22. She will also open for Maisie Peters on her national tour this month, following their collaborative single ‘America Forever’ from Positive Spin.
