Nintendo Switch Online might just be one of the most overlooked online gaming subscriptions. And while it’s already pretty cheap to pick up at $19.99 per year, Nintendo is offering a limited-time 14-day free trial for its online service.

How to get a free Nintendo Switch Online trial

Nintendo is only offering this free trial as part of its upcoming MAR10 Day (March 10) celebration. The trial is available for anyone with a Nintendo account, even if you’ve already taken part in a free trial in the past.

To sign up for the 14-day free trial, you’ll need to head to the My Nintendo website. Once there, sign in and find the Redeem Points button. This will take you to a page with a bunch of different rewards. Find the Happy MAR10 Day reward that notes the 14-day free trial for Nintendo Switch Online, and click on it. This should take you to the redemption page, where you can redeem the offer and add it to your account.

As I noted above, this offer is only available for a limited time, and Nintendo doesn’t offer these trials very often. In fact, the offer is only available until March 18 at 11:59 p.m. PT. So, if you’re interested in checking out Nintendo Switch Online, now is the chance to do it.

What does Nintendo Switch Online offer?

Nintendo Switch Online isn’t just a subscription to access the online components of your favorite Switch games. Sure, it does let you play multiplayer on the internet in games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Splatoon 3. But subscribing to Nintendo Switch Online also includes a slew of other perks like the NES Switch Online app, the SNES app, and the Game Boy app. These emulators let you play some of the greatest classic retro games directly on your Switch.

You’ll also get special offers and deals for your subscription, as well as access to the Nintendo Switch Online app and cloud storage for all of your save data. If you like what the Nintendo Switch Online subscription has to offer, then you can also upgrade to the Expansion Pack option, which costs a bit more, but also gives you access to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, Happy Home Paradise in New Horizons, the Octo Expansion in Splatoon 2, as well as the Game Boy Advance, SEGA Genesis, and Nintendo 64 online apps, which give you even more access to retro games.

You can purchase Nintendo Switch Online for $19.99 a year for the basic version of $49.99 for Switch Online + the Expansion Pack.
