Guitarist and bandleader Joe Marcinek, known for his perpetually rotating band lineups featuring stars of the extended funk and jam worlds, has released “SoulD”, the first single from his new album, 1 River Street, due out via Vintage League Music on April 30th.

For “SoulD”, Marcinek recruited bassist Nate Edgar (The Nth Power), keyboardist Kris Yunker (Alan Evans Trio), and a three-piece horn section of Brian ThomasAlex Lee-Clark, and Jared Sims to help concoct a strolling, soul-funk instrumental. Also notably present on the conspicuously Soulive-reminiscent “SoulD” is Soulive’s Alan Evans, the owner of Vintage League Music, who played drums on the recording in addition to handling producing, mixing, mastering, and album artwork duties.

As Joe Marcinek explained to Live For Live Music, “Alan Evans has been mixing my records for the past 6 years and been trying to get me to come out to his studio for a while. I finally made it happen in November of 2022 with Nate Edgar and Kris Yunker. I had basic demos of each of the 8 tracks but they really came together in the studio. We just went song by song and breathed life into each one. ‘SoulD’, the first single, really captures the energy and vibe of what we were going for.”
