In advance of their collaborative tour celebrating Maynard James Keenan‘s 60th birthday, Primus, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle have announced the joint Sessanta E.P.P.P. Out March 29th, the three-song EP will feature a new track from each band, all co-written by Keenan.
A Perfect Circle’s contribution “Kindred” will mark the first new release from the band—which also features Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha—since its 2018 album Eat The Elephant. Primus hasn’t shared any new material since 2022’s Conspiranoid EP, while Puscifer is the most active of the bunch, releasing the live album Global Probing last year.
The Sessanta E.P.P.P. will be available digitally and on a pair of exclusive vinyl variants. Seventy-five copies of the signed, tour-exclusive vinyl will be available at each show and will feature the three songs on the A-side with instrumental versions on the B-side. The webstore exclusive is pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl with red and yellow swirls and the Sessanta tour’s mascot Cerbero on the B-side. Vinyl pre-orders are now open here.
The synergetic nature of the Sessanta E.P.P.P. underscores the ethos of its corresponding spring tour. The 21-date trek will feature no headliner but rather see all three bands sharing the stage at once, playing their songs in an around-the-horn fashion. While each group will have its own distinctive performance, players will continually transfer in and out as the evening progresses. The format will be familiar to Primus who pulled off a similar feat with Ween as part of the South Park 25th-Anniversary Concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2022.
Sessanta is a continuation of Cinquanta, the one-night-only event in L.A. celebrating Maynard’s 50th birthday with A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, and Failure. These shows will mark A Perfect Circle’s first concerts since 2018.
“It took some massaging, and some long days in rehearsal, but we managed to seamlessly pull off this three-song rotation at Cinquanta, my 50th birthday shows, at the Greek Theatre in 2014,” Keenan said. “Bands aren’t used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands, but if anyone can do it, it’s Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer.”
The Sessanta tour is set to begin with a sold-out two-night run in Boston on April 2nd and 3rd. See below for a full list of tour dates and visit the tour website for tickets.
