sunsquabi announces departure of drummer chris anderson

Denver livetronica trio SunSquabi has announced drummer Chris Anderson will step away from the band after 13 years.

In a statement posted to social media, Kevin Donohue and Josh Fairman expressed support for Anderson and his family and told fans that he will play at the band’s upcoming show at Mission Ballroom. They went on to announce that Scotty Zwang, who has played with Dopapod and Ghost Light, will take over as the band’s new drummer.

Read the pair’s full statement below.

Since 2011, our brother Chris Anderson has poured blood, sweat and tears into this band. He is one of the most hard-working, dedicated, loyal and faithful friends we have ever known. The times and experiences we have shared, along with the lessons we’ve learned and knowledge gained together through this journey will last a hundred lifetimes.

The time has come for a change, and our brother Chris will be stepping down as the Drummer for SunSquabi. But you WILL be seeing him perform with us at unique events in the future, and also this upcoming Saturday, 3/9 at the Mission Ballroom. Our good friend Scotty Zwang will be taking over for Chris as the full-time drummer for the band.

We support Chris and his beautiful family who has supported us for over a decade.

And we wish him all of the success and love on the next chapter of his journey.

Through all of this, we are most grateful that we can remain brothers and best friends while looking forward to the future of the band
Thank you so much for all of your continuous love and support. Please take this opportunity to share your favorite memories, and join us all at the Mission Ballroom this Saturday to give our brother a proper send-off on the drum kit!

All the Love and see you soon,
Kevin and Josh

SunSquabi is currently on tour with upcoming shows around the western U.S. and festival appearances including Resonate Suwannee, Casual Campout Festival, Elements Music & Arts Festival, and Summer’s End Smokeout.
