Kendrick Lamar and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have announced that the live-action comedy they are producing together will arrive in theaters on July 4th, 2025.

Lamar and producer/record executive Dave Free are producing the untitled feature film under their media company pgLang. Parker and Stone served as co-producers, with Paramount Pictures handling the project’s theatrical and home distribution. Per Variety, Paramount announced the release date at the recent CinemaCon, and though they didn’t provide many other details, Paramount CEO Brian Robbins said, “This script is one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read and it’s certain to create some fireworks,” referencing the holiday release.

When the film was first announced back in 2022, it was described as depicting “the past and present coming to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his,” though the studio is now describing it simply as “an original live-action comedy from the creators of South Park, Dave Free and Kendrick Lamar.”

The script was written by four-time Emmy and Peabody award-winning writer, director, and voice actor Vernon Chatman—known to South Park fans as the voice of Towlie and a writer and producer on the show for nearly 20 years. In addition to his work on South Park, Chatman also created Adult Swim‘s The Shivering Truth and co-created cult favorite series like Wonder Showzen, Xavier: Renegade Angel, Trigger Warning With Killer Mike, and Doggie Fizzle Televizzle With Snoop Dogg.

The film will mark Parker and Stone’s first feature-length comedy since Team America: World Police in 2004. Since then, the pair have churned out two decades of South Park episodes, staged their Tony-winning musical The Book of Mormon, and in 2022 brought South Park to life for a 25th anniversary celebration at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with Ween and Primus. In 2021, the duo struck a deal with ViacomCBS for six more seasons of South Park and 14 made-for-TV movies.
