‘The Mouse That Rocked’ Stanley Mouse Tribute Album To Feature Chuck Leavell, Leftover Salmon, More

Though he never recorded an album or headlined a festival, visual artist Stanley Mouse was as integral to the 1960s counterculture as any band or musician. His trademark iconography adorned concert posters at seminal San Francisco venues The Fillmore and the Avalon, album covers by the Grateful Dead and Journey, and became the backdrop to the psychedelic revolution. Now, Blue Rose Music will put Stanley back on the cover for The Mouse That Rocked, a compilation featuring covers of artists Stanley worked with performed by today’s musicians.

Among the top contributors to The Mouse That Rocked are Chuck Leavell (Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones), Leftover SalmonNicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz (ALO), Charlie MusselwhiteNicole AtkinsJason CrosbyThe Mother Hips, and more. These artists will cover legendary acts who utilized Stanley’s work including the Grateful Dead, NRPS, Journey, Jefferson AirplaneThe BeatlesBig Brother & The Holding CompanyCream, and more.

“Through the years, my connection with Stanley Mouse has revealed the incredible depth of his artistry—from the early hot rod monster T-shirt era, to the enchanting psychedelic San Francisco ballroom posters, and ultimately to the era of mega-selling album covers,” album producer David Gross said. “Continuing the tradition from posters, his creativity now extends into timeless & contemporary oil paintings. Stanley Mouse’s journey is a captivating evolution, showcasing a remarkable breadth of work that spans various artistic realms with enduring brilliance.”

All proceeds from The Mouse That Rocked: A Tribute To Stanley Mouse will benefit the Blue Rose Foundation. The 501(c)(3) non-profit awards preschool scholarships to underprivileged children, which has been shown to improve literacy rates, high school graduation rates, and employment rates.
