With 36 appearances at Alpine Valley Music Theatre—the most of any artist—Dave Matthews Band‘s trips to East Troy, WI have become a sacred event. So with that in mind, the band let everyone in on the fun for its trip back this weekend, broadcasting audio of Friday’s entire show on SiriusXM for all subscribers to hear. Unfortunately, there was no music to be heard inside Alpine Valley on Saturday as inclement weather and a toradno warning forced the band to reschedule the show to a later date yet to be announced.
While a brief run of torrential rain dampened Saturday’s festivities, the sun shined brightly on Friday when Dave Matthews Band took the stage. The 17-song main set witnessed a slew of summer tour debuts, including “The Best of What’s Around” which followed the opening “Pantala Naga Pampa”. Other songs making their first appearance of the summer were “Squirm” and a down-home, set-closing Southern sequence of “Cornbread” and “Louisiana Bayou”, the latter of which hadn’t appeared since November 10th, 2023 per DMB Almanac.
Friday’s show-closing encore of “The Last Stop” proved more prophetic than the band probably intended. Just after 7 p.m. the following evening, as thousands of fans were already inside the venue, Alpine Valley forced all attendees to evacuate due to approaching severe weather as the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the area. After about an hour of sheltering in place, the band and venue announced that the show was postponed to a later date, which as of publication has yet to be announced.
