As we’ve said on various occasions throughout the first three weeks of the Dead & Company Dead Forever residency at Las Vegas, NV’s Sphere, it’s a little bit tricky to follow the shows from home like we used to in the band’s touring days. With no official video or audio streams available and many fans only attending a handful of shows at most, those of us following along from the couch are left to scroll YouTube and Instagram to try to put the pieces together, relying on videos and photos posted by attendees (thank you, all of you). Even when we can piece some things together, it’s likely that we’re not catching every moment of audiovisual nuance that happens during the residency.
It’s been sort of a fun game, actually. You never really know what photos and videos will pop up each morning. Case in point: It looks like Flavor Flav met Martha Stewart at Thursday’s Dead & Co Sphere performance, the residency’s tenth show so far. For real. So, we could talk about the new songs added to the Sphere setlist rotation on 6/6/24 (“Minglewood Blues”, “Peggy-O, “Here Comes Sunshine”, “Death Don’t Have No Mercy”, and “Johnny B. Goode”, per setlist.fm), but that other thing sounds more fun, so let’s do that one:
On Friday morning, Flavor Flav, the Public Enemy hypeman-turned-reality TV pioneer, posted a number of photos and videos from the Thursday night Dead & Company Sphere show on social media. One of them features Flav posing with Martha Stewart. In the caption of the post, he tagged his fellow hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg, who has famously collaborated with Stewart on various projects.
As with every post on the Flavor Flav account, the caption on his Sphere post begins with, “FLAVOR FLAV:::” (I know it’s just text, but you know how you’re supposed to read that). It continues, “YOOOO Snoopadelick @snoopdogg ,,,I ran into yo girl,!!! @marthastewart … Greatful Dead concert @spherevegas 
.”
Flav added, “Ya boy can’t believe he saw DEAD&CO in concert,!!! WOOWWWW and that MFer John Mayer can really play guitar,!!! And that visuals of going into the sky 
.” In addition to the photo with Stewart—set against an illustrated recreation of Red Rocks (because why not make this thing even stranger), the post features clips of various Dead & Co Sphere visual motifs and a photo of him outside the venue. Yeaaaah, boy!

While Martha Stewart didn’t seem as jazzed to meet Flavor Flav as he was to meet her, she certainly seemed excited to catch Dead & Company. In a series of captioned videos from the show posted to her Instagram story, Stewart wrote, “Guess where we are!!!!! … Figure it out??? … BEST SHOW EVER!!! @Sphere.”
