As the start of the 2024 summer Phish tour rapidly approaches, Live For Live Music and Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom have announced a series of late-night shows set to take place during the jam juggernaut’s annual Labor Day Weekend run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. This year’s Dick’s late-night series at Cervantes’ includes four nights of dual-room dance parties featuring The Phunk Sessions (Thursday, 8/29), Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass (Friday, 8/30), Bone Diggers: Paul Simon Dance Jams (Saturday, 8/31), Purple Party: A Tribute to Prince (Sunday, 9/1), and more.

Thursday, August 29th – The Phunk Sessions
The Funk Sessions has been bringing together rotating groups of all-star musicians for funk super-jams in Denver since launching at Cervantes’ back in early 2019. When Phish comes to town, The Funk Sessions transforms into The Phunk Sessions to give the thousand barefoot children dancing on the Dick’s field a chance to keep sharing in the groove late into the night.
This year’s edition of The Phunk Sessions will feature a trio of revered New Orleans music giants—The Meters bassist George Porter Jr. and Dumpstaphunk‘s Ivan Neville (keys, vocals) and Tony Hall (bass, guitar, vocals)—alongside Denver staples and Lettuce bandmates Adam Deitch (drums) and Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff (guitar). Eric Krasno, the decorated guitarist, producer, bandleader, and former Lettuce member, will round out the roster. Even beyond the billed lineup of heavy hitters, you never know who might show up to get in on the action. Versatile guitarist/looper/human ball of sunshine Keller Williams will link up with frequent collaborators The Hillbenders at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on Friday, August 30th after Phish to pay homage to the Grateful Dead songbook in pickin’ party fashion with a Grateful Grass late-night. While Keller and company scratch fans’ bluegrass itch in the Ballroom, DJ AirWolf will be back on the stage at the Other Side for fans looking to dance the night away.

Sunday, September 1st – Purple Party: A Tribute to Prince
Purple Party: A Tribute to Prince will make its return to Cervantes’ on Sunday, September 1st to close out Live For Live Music and Cervantes’ 2024 Phish Dick’s late-night series with one final night of dance, music, sex, and romance in the Mile High City.
A festival favorite from Brooklyn to Colorado to the high seas, Purple Party has been paying homage to the late, great Prince with a rotating mix of funk stars for years. Much like Purple Party closes out Live For Live Music’s lengthy late-night series during New Orleans Jazz Fest each year with consistently memorable homages to The Purple One, this year’s Denver edition will close out the four-night Phish Dick’s festivities with a bit of that same magic. In addition to musical director/keyboardist Casey Russell (Magic Beans), this year’s Phish Dick’s Purple Party late-night at Cervantes’ will feature Isaac Teel (drums/vocals, TAUK), Garrett Sayers (bass, The Motet), Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff (guitar, Lettuce), Joey Porter (keys, The Motet), Ryan Jalbert (guitar, The Motet), Lyle Divinsky (vocals), Shira Elias (vocals, Cool Cool Cool), Sammi Garett (vocals, Cool Cool Cool), Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet/percussion, Lettuce), and Nicholas Gerlach (saxophone).
