Riot Fest will take its talents to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, IL with a 2024 lineup topped by Slayer, Beck, Fall Out Boy, Pavement, and more. The long-running Chicago punk rock and alternative music festival is set to bring 90-plus acts to its new home from September 20th—22nd. The move from its longtime home of Douglass Park to the sprawling stadium grounds has allowed festival organizers to introduce the new RiotLand, an immersive “Choose Your Own Adventure” world set to elevate the Riot Fest experience, as well as offer on-site parking.
The reliably expansive Riot Fest lineup delivered on a variety of fronts for 2024, including the first appearance by hometown heroes Fall Out Boy since they reunited at the festival in 2013. Other rare performances include seminal indie rock band Pavement, a reunion by monolithic metal band Slayer to close out the festival, daily sets by NOFX as part of the band’s farewell tour, and an appearance by Dr. Dog who retired from full-time touring in 2021. Other top acts include St. Vincent, Rob Zombie, The Offspring performing Smash, Sublime (ft. Jakob Nowell, Bud Gaugh, and Eric Wilson), Bright Eyes, Manchester Orchestra performing Cope, a Public Enemy reunion, The Marley Brothers (ft. Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani and Damian) playing a Bob Marley set, Mastadon performing Leviathan, and more, along with festival favorites Taking Back Sunday and GWAR.
Beyond the lineup, organizers have announced the launch of RiotLand. The fully interactive experience will allow fans to explore a variety of themed areas and activated experiences. There are numerous immersive tributes to the local Chicago music scene including the Q101 Radio Tower honoring the local alternative station, the Cabaret Metro Stage nodding to Chicago’s Metro venue which was a proving ground for many festival alums, and the AAA Stage paying tribute to the AAA warehouse where Riot Fest sponsored many secret shows back in the day. Other areas of RiotLand include NOFX world celebrating the foundational punk band on the precipice of its retirement, several Kevin Smith zones with dutiful homages to the director’s films Clerks and Mallrats, the House of Law courtroom by day and gay punk and dance club by night, a functioning casino, Nihilist Arby’s, an unofficial attempt to set the record for the world’s largest festival bar, and much more. Organizers will reveal the full site in the weeks to come.
