The Brownstein Family Band, featuring Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits and his son Zach alongside Eggy bandmates Jake Brownstein and Dani Battat, joined forces once again for a weekend family reunion with shows around the Northeast. The four-show outing marked the first multi-show run for the group, which played its debut show at Nectar’s in Burlington, VT in January.

“Today is the first day of the first multi show run I’m ever playing with a human being that I made via biology (Zach) and my buddies from the awesome band Eggy. Who says school doesn’t pay off?” Marc Brownstein wrote in a social media post before the start of the run.

“We added 10 new songs to the repertoire yesterday including a handful of Biscuits and Eggy songs. Playing these 8 or so originals with Zach is some of the coolest shit I’ve ever gotten to do. I’m so proud of how professional he is. Dude comes so prepared and also has the ability to learn a new song on the spot without ever having heard it by just listening to the band. Picks up hits and stuff on the first go around and then nails it for the rest of the song. Blown away.”

After kicking off the weekend on Wednesday at The Homestead in Morristown, NJ, the band continued to Ardmore Music Hall near the Biscuits’ native Philadelphia. Both shows featured special guest appearances by Biscuits guitarist Jon Barber.

“I got chills during the Home Again,” Marc Brownstein wrote after Thursday’s show. “Zach really slayed that in a way that made me proud to not only be his dad, but to be his band mate.”

Brownstein Family Band then headed to Albany’s Lark Hall on Friday before capping the weekend off at Fairfield’s Park City Music Hall in Eggy’s home state of Connecticut. There, Marc Brownstein busted out The Disco Biscuits’ “Jamilla” for the first time since 2016 and updated the lyrics to reflect current culture, singing, “Jamillia, I want to feel ya up, but only with your consent.”

“We changed the lyrics of jamillia tonight just slightly to honor [GrooveSafe], their initiative to stop unwanted touching and sexual assault at concerts,’ Brownstein wrote on X, “and their mission to create a no tolerance environment with an emphasis on building a consent culture.”
