Plenty of noteworthy things happened at last week’s Bonnaroo 2024 (stay tuned for our full coverage and check out some clips here), but this one is too ridiculous not to get its own headline: Jackass favorite Steve-O marked his 50th birthday backstage at the Manchester, TN festival by having Post Malone tattoo a penis on his forehead—and Billy Strings was there to capture the moment on video.
Steve-O revealed the plans for his big 5-0 earlier this month in an interview with Page Six. “If you can believe it, I’m getting my first face tattoo,” he said, burying all sorts of ledes. “But that’ll be the day after my birthday. … I’ve designed it already, it’s been designed.”
When pushed for details, he added, cracking a smile but remaining sincere, “Yeah, uh, Post Malone’s gonna tattoo a d–k on my forehead.”

Sure enough, on Friday, June 14th, Steve-O was backstage in Tennessee with Post Malone—no stranger to face tattoos himself—to receive his scheduled forehead phallus. While the general public had heard ahead of time about Post Malone’s Bonnaroo plans with Steve-O, the tens of thousands of fans in attendance didn’t know about another friend of Posty’s in the house: Billy Strings.
Bonnaroo attendees (and those streaming from home) soon found out that the bluegrass sensation was on the Farm when he sat in on guitar for a pair of songs during Malone’s headlining set later that night. Prior to his surprise appearance, however, Billy made a quieter contribution to Bonnaroo ’24 lore by helping preserve the Steve-O/Post Malone/facial member moment on video for posterity.

The video, shared on Monday by celebrity gossip publication TMZ, appears to compile clips from a couple different people in the room, Billy included (some snippets show Billy filming the ordeal, while others appear to come from his perspective).
“I’m gonna start with the part closest to your eye,” Post Malone says in the video as he gets started. “I would say start with the balls,” Steve-O responds.
While TMZ didn’t mention the bluegrass superstar as one of the cameramen, Strings, real name William Apostol, went ahead and claimed his video credit in a post on his Facebook page.
