Gold Coast/Yugambeh party boys Bootleg Rascal have returned with a brand new single that OG fans are sure to froth. Dubbed ‘Oti’, the collaboration with Brooklyn-born, Sydney/Eora-based purveyor of psychedelic hip-hop Danté Knows marks a return to the group’s signature sun-soaked reggae and dub-infused sound.
Produced by Caleb Tasker (Rum Jungle, The Terrys), ‘Oti’ recalls the vibes of Bootleg’s breakout debut EP, Psychotica. But at its heart, ‘Oti’ is a heartfelt tribute to guitarist Jimmy Young’s son Otis (affectionately known as ‘Oti’).

“‘Oti’ kind of evolved into an ode to my son, Otis River Young,” Jimmy explains in a press statement. “It touches on the father-son connection we share and the infinite love I have for him.”
He continues: “As a parent watching your little creation grow and develop is a pretty surreal experience and, in my case, has led to a lot of self-reflection and realisation, which the song delves into as well. The music itself I think really channels the vibe of early Bootleg Rascal, particularly the song ‘Overflow’ from our debut EP Psychotica, with that classic Australiana reggae indie-rock feel, and a touch of dub. We were also super stoked to have our good friend Danté Knows feature on it as well. His verse really was the icing on the cake the song needed.”
To celebrate the arrival of ‘Oti’, the Bootleg Rascal boys are doing what they do best and hitting the road. They’ve announced a 13-date regional headline tour of Australia’s East Coast stretching from September through to November.
