The one-day spinoff of The Peach Music Festival, set to take place at the new Summer Concert Stage at ISLAND Waterpark at Showboat Resort—otherwise known as the world’s largest beachfront waterpark—will offer a full day of music on the event’s main Peach Stage including reggae singer Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru (3:00 p.m.), psych-rock bass queen Karina Rykman (4:00 p.m.), new-generation Allman Brothers Band tribute ensemble Trouble No More performing Eat a Peach (5:30 p.m.), and Jersey jam quintet Dogs In A Pile (7:15) in addition to a two-set headlining show by Dead-plus live juggernaut/veteran Peach headliner Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (9:00).
In addition to the main stage, Peach at the Beach will feature a number of early sets at a second waterpark stage for GA+, VIP, and Super VIP ticket-holders. DJ King Mega (11:00 a.m.) and DJ Logic (12:00 p.m.) are slated to kick off the festivities before Dogs In A Pile take over for a special waterpark performance (2:00 p.m.). Uncle Jesse will assume DJ duties at 3:15 to round out the daytime waterpark programming. Peach at the Beach will also offer fans a number of late-night performances and adjacent shows. On Friday, July 12th at 9:00 p.m., The Disco Biscuits will get the festivities started early with a pre-party at the Bourbon Ballroom inside the Showboat Resort. On Saturday, July 13th, the “Peach After Dark” docket will kick off with an opening set by DJ Logic (11:30 p.m.) and a special Queen is Doomed tribute set by Doom Flamingo (12:00 a.m.).
Finally, after headlining Peach at the Beach with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, keyboardist Marco Benevento will round out the night by gathering a number of his fellow musicians for a special Marco Benevento & Friends set at the Bourbon Ballroom (1:00 a.m.).
As Benevento explained to Live For Live Music of his collaborative late-night set, “I’m going to play with my band, which is Karina [Rykman] and Chris [Corsico], which is essentially Karina’s band minus their guitar player. Actually, Karina will be [at Peach at the Beach] with her band, so hopefully Adam [November], her guitar player, will be there to sit in with us. It’s basically going to be me and Karina and Chris playing my jams, and then I know Tommy Hamilton (JRAD) is going to come sit in with us.”
“I’ll be at Peach at the Beach all day,” Benevento continued, “so I’m just hoping to recruit musicians as the day goes on. I mean, it’s going to be late-night. It’s going to be fun. So bring on the freaks—I’m down to do whatever, whatever… whatever! Music is fun, music’s for the people. Music’s also for the musicians, but music’s for dancing and smiling and entertainment, and I’m all about that s—. So bring it on.”
“Karina is such a great bass player, and Chris is a great drummer, and I could lead the way and help out with some improvisations, or I can just stand out of the way and just watch it all go down,” he added. “But I’m down for any sort of collaboration. It’d be kind of fun to play with someone who I’ve never played with before, so I’m looking forward to that.”
