Electro-soul magnate Pretty Lights will host a two-night camping event in Bethel, NY on August 23rd and 24th featuring two headlining performances, additional sets by guest artists, and various daytime activities like yoga and wellness programs. The previously announced pair of shows at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, a stone’s throw from the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, come as part of Pretty Lights’ ongoing 24-date Soundship Spacesystem tour set to run through December.
Pretty Lights announced details of the run across social media in a promo video featuring what appears to be a polished studio recording of “New Heights“, a new song the DJ/producer debuted live with his band comprised of Chris Karns (turntables), Alvin Ford Jr. (drums), Borahm Lee (keyboards), and Michal Menert (production). Additional performers at the Bethel event include Flying Mojito Bros, Maddy O’Neal (MADHAUS), Motifv, Parkbreezy, Thought Process, and Vincent Antone who will perform daytime and late-night sets on the Horizon stage.
Attendees will have two on-site camping options at Bethel Woods: Pavilion Camping or Best Road Camping. Pavilion Camping can accommodate glamping and tent-only guests (with the venue’s website saying RV options are “coming soon”), is a five-minute walk from the venue or Woodstock museum, and affords gorgeous views of Bethel Woods and the historic surrounding site. Best Road Camping can host RVs and car camping for all types of vehicles and tent sizes and is approximately 4/10 of a mile from the venue or museum.
Tickets and camping passes for the Pretty Lights run at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York are on sale here.
This latest camping event calls to mind PL’s well-received three-night stay at The Caverns in Pelham, TN last November. On its first tour in five years, the project led by Derek Vincent Smith set up shop at the hybrid subterranean/surface-level venue for a festival-style event that saw a reunion with former PL drummer Adam Deitch (Lettuce, Break Science), a secret DJ set from Smith, and a few “swirls” of country greats including Dolly Parton in the band’s sample-heavy live performances.
