As Dead & Company prepares to finish their Dead Forever residency at Sphere, Shakedown Vegas is making sure there’ll always be something shaking through the final two weekends. The indoor, air-conditioned pre- and post-show bazaar and concert series has detailed a list of new and returning bands and a special art exhibit for the finale.
When Dead & Company return to Las Vegas’ Sphere August 1st–3rd and 8th–10th, Shakedown Vegas will return to its home at The Tuscany Suites and Casino. The Deadhead hub will open at 11 a.m. every show day, with free live music in the Piazza Lounge from noon until 5 p.m., with the ballroom full of vendors, buskers, and bands open until 7 p.m. After the show, music picks back up at 11:30 p.m. in The Copa Room and can go as late as 3 a.m. Admission to Shakedown Vegas and all of the music is free to anyone looking to poke around.

For the final two weekends of Dead Forever, Shakedown Vegas will bring back California favorites Token Rhyme and Shakedown String Band, along with new bands from coast to coast. Other acts set to perform pre- and post-show concerts are Marcus Rezak Band, Legion of Mario, Red Eye Gin, Mojave Blues, Raining Moonshine Band, Pits Players, and Gent Treadly, with Shakedown String Band closing the residency at Shakedown After Dark on Saturday, August 10th following Dead & Co’s final show of the Sphere run. Another musical highlight on the Shakedown Street schedule is a planned New Orleans-style second-line marching brass band on August 9th to commemorate the 29th anniversary of Jerry Garcia‘s death.
Another addition to Shakedown Vegas in the winddown of Dead Forever is a new exhibit by artist Jack Shure. Presented by photographer/Shakedown Vegas vet Josh Hitchens, Shure’s visual artwork has appeared onstage with Dead & Company and on posters from Furthur and Bob Weir. A student of The Academy of Visionary Art in Italy, his work mixes influences from psychedelic culture with fine art. Shure will be at Shakedown Vegas August 1st–3rd, and the first 100 attendees at The Tuscany will receive free promotional barf bags, poker chips, and a number for a drawing to win one of his limited edition posters.
