While Dead & Company handled the metaphorical fireworks inside Las Vegas, NV’s Sphere on July 4th, the venue’s exosphere—and a fleet of drones—put on a patriotic show of its own for the rest of Sin City. In addition to celebrating Independence Day, the spectacle served as a one-year anniversary celebration for the structure’s massive “exosphere” screen, which first powered up last July 4th ahead of the venue’s grand opening later in the year.
The display, presented by Verizon and developed by Sphere Studios, the immersive content studio dedicated to creating multi-sensory live entertainment experiences exclusively for Sphere, included a celebration of the venue and its impact on the Las Vegas skyline, visuals focused on the Stars & Stripes, a nod to the history of Nevada, and a look back at the past “year of Sphere.” The visuals also included work from eight Clark County-based students who won a design contest to have their art featured in the July 4th Sphere show. The students’ artwork will run in the exosphere content rotation for the remainder of the summer. The dynamic content on the exosphere—the world’s largest LED screen—was amplified by more than 500 light-up drones that took the shape of fireworks, stars and more.

In related Sphere news, the venue used July 4th as an opportunity to roll out a pair of new features for fans, XO Audio (custom audio synced to content on the exosphere that is audible both onsite within Sphere’s property and online) and XO Stream (an official livestream of the Exosphere that is now available 24/7 here, presented by Verizon). Both XO Audio and XO Stream will now run continuously moving forward.
