Perennial blues-rock workhorse Warren Haynes is taking a break from his regularly scheduled duties as the leader of Gov’t Mule this summer to turn his attention to a pair of passion projects. The Now Is The Time Tour featuring the Warren Haynes Band and the Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience features two sets of symphonic music plus a third set of Haynes’ signature rock-soul blend alongside the debut of the new Warren Haynes Band. The domestic summer leg of Warren Haynes’ tour will culminate on Saturday, July 27th and Sunday, July 28th with a pair of Ohio shows at the Rose Music Center at The Heights in Huber Heights and PNC Pavilion (formerly known as Riverbend Music Center) in Cincinnati, respectively.

Like other headlining shows on the Now Is The Time Tour, the Ohio concerts will feature three unique sets exploring all of Warren’s incredible catalog including music from The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead, Jerry Garcia, Gov’t Mule, and more. Accompanying Haynes for the new 2024 incarnation of the Warren Haynes Band are longtime friend and famed keyboardist John Medeski (most notably known as one-third of the groundbreaking trio Medeski, Martin & Wood), Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott, and returning WHB member and two-time Grammy Award-winning drummer Terence Higgins, recognized for his work with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Ani DiFranco, and others.

The idea for Haynes’ Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience dates back to the guitarist’s successful Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration tour which ran from 2013–2016. Those shows introduced the improv-minded guitarist to the beauty of symphony, and in 2019 Warren debuted his own orchestral project “Dreams & Songs – A Symphonic Journey” with a sold-out two-night engagement in his hometown of Asheville, NC. At those concerts, Haynes revisited his illustrious resume via reimagined takes on the music of the Allman Brothers Band, the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, and more alongside the Asheville Symphony Orchestra. The new Now Is The Time Tour with the Warren Haynes Band and the Dreams and Songs Experience will build upon that concept, utilizing arrangements from Haynes’ Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration tour for the Dead/Garcia material and applying new orchestral arrangements to the rest of the material on the docket.

“I’m really excited to have this opportunity to tour with both my new band and the Symphonic Experience,” Haynes said when announcing the tour. “We will be reinterpreting a lot of different music from the storied ‘songbooks’ of many of the bands I’ve been fortunate to have been a part of over the last three decades or so combined with material from my solo work, including new music. Many of these aforementioned classic songs will be interpreted by an orchestra for the first time ever and doing sets with both the symphony and the band alone will give us the platform to perform a multi-dimensional show night after night.”
