Ariana Grande has opened up about the challenges of maintaining a vegan diet while coming from a traditional Italian family. During her appearance on Hot Ones, where she sampled spicy vegan wings, Ariana humorously shared that her family struggles to accommodate her plant-based preferences.
When host Sean Evans asked if her family had found a balance between her vegan diet and their Italian cooking, Ariana joked that her grandmother seems to prefer forgetting about it. “It’s so funny because my family always forgets,” the 31-year-old singer said, adding, “I don’t think they forget; I think they don’t want to remember.” She recounted how her grandmother often offers her meatballs, despite her plant-based lifestyle.

However, Ariana does have support in her brother-in-law, Hale Leon, who is also vegan. “I’m not alone, my brother-in-law Hale is vegan, so we have each other,” she noted, referencing the challenge of navigating family meals.
Throughout the episode, Ariana handled the spicy hot sauces with ease, although she had a variety of foods like bananas and popsicles on hand to manage the heat. She humorously admitted her apprehension, saying, “I’m shriveling and weak and honest,” showing her genuine and down-to-earth attitude.
