Hello Sunshine has announced its return for 2025, heading to Melbourne and the Gold Coast in early March 2025. The family-oriented festival includes an ecclectic mix of nostalgic international and Australian artists, as well as a unique batch of children’s entertainment. The festival dates and venues, full line-up and ticketing information can all be accessed below.
Headlining the festival are American grunge band Stone Temple Pilots, who have already announced a national Australian tour with Wolfmother to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their second studio album: 1994’s Purple. Wolfmother will also join the Hello Sunshine festivities, as will Kasey Chambers, the Rogue Traders and Drapht on the Australian front.
Also appearing at the festival are American pop-rock band Smash Mouth, who will tour Australia for the first time in six-and-a-half years. Since they were last in the country, erstwhile frontman Steve Harwell tragically passed away at the age of 56. The surviving band members have continued with new lead vocalist Zach Goode. “Australia has got to be one of the coolest places to play,” wrote the band in a press statement. “We are so excited to head back. It’s going to be amazing… summertime? Outdoor festival? Australia? Yes, please!”
Smash Mouth – ‘Walkin’ On The Sun’
Perhaps the most curious part of the line-up for 2025, however, has to be the presence of everyone’s favourite animated dog Bluey. Although she is well connected in the music industry – her dad is voiced by Custard frontman Dave McCormack, while her teacher Calypso is voiced by ARIA Award winner Megan Washington – this marks the first time she has appeared on a festival line-up.
Although at the time of writing, it’s unclear whether Bluey is set to undergo some sort of Wiggles-esque EDM reinvention. Press materials have promised, however, that festival punters young and old will have “a chance to meet and interact with their favourite Bluey characters” and will experience “an extra special live show that will get you up and dancing“. Hello Sunshine debuted in 2023 with headlining performances from Amy Shark and The Cat Empire, as well as a DJ set from The Wiggles alum Murray Cook. It returned earlier this year, with a line-up including the likes of The Veronicas, Grinspoon, The Wiggles and Bliss N Eso.
