Stand Atlantic may have just torn up the ARIA charts with their new album WAS HERE, and packed out the biggest venues of their career on their celebratory Australian East Coast headline tour, but the Sydney-spawned foursome are never ones to make it all about themselves.
Despite riding high on the wave of hype surrounding their shiny new fourth studio LP as they shimmy into BIGSOUND for their first ever artist showcase, the genre-hopping alternative rock act have still taken the time to shoutout ten of their favourite tunes from other homegrown artists who are killing it right now. G Flip – ‘7 Days’
From Bon: “one of the best queer artists to come out of australia in recent times. G is a legend – their whole album ‘drummer’ has no skips and i love what they’re doing musically and their super talented. this is my favourite track off this record.”
Charley – ‘Timebomb’
From Bon: “super dope queer female pop artist. her vocal tone is awesome and this song is catchy as hell.“
Speed – ‘THE FIRST TEST’
From Bon: “absolute carnage. taking the world by storm. a must-know artist of australian hardcore.“
The Buoys – ‘Check Mate’
From Bon: “fun fact, courtney (bass) and i were in a band together when we were 12/13 and now the buoys are taking over the world, great band great songs lovely people. i love the lyrics in this song and the melodies and style sonically just reminds me of home. their sound as a whole just has a nostalgic sense to it for me and i love that.“
Polaris – ‘Dissipate’
From Bon: “australian staple of heavy music, lucky enough to have them feature in our track ‘criminal’ on WAS HERE. this song goes hard.“
Between You & Me, Teenage Joans – ‘1800 Painless’
From Bon: “these two artists are good friends of ours, love this song and its a great collab. the melodies slap.“
RedHook, Alpha Wolf – ‘Cannibal’
From Bon: “also great friends of ours and both are doing great things for the aussie heavy scene. awesome collab.“
Yours Truly – ‘Call My Name’
From Bon: “once again, friends of ours who just make dope songs (can’t help that our friends are talented and australian sorry bout it). this is one of my favourites.“
Slowly Slowly – ‘All Time’
From Bon: “ALSO OUR FRIENDS OK BUT THEY’RE EQUALLY TALENTED AND AMAZING. this is their new track that we absolutely love. Slowly, Slowly will be joining us on our uk/eu tour in september!“
