To mark the one-year anniversary of the A24-produced reissue of iconic Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense, the film will screen in 300 IMAX movie theaters on Wednesday, October 2nd, the art-rock favorites have announced.

Recently restored in 4K to coincide with its 40th anniversary, the 1984 film was directed by renowned filmmaker Jonathan Demme and is widely considered to be among the greatest concert films of all time. Stop Making Sense stars core Talking Heads band members David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison along with Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry, and Edna Holt. The visually stark and stunning film was shot over the course of three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December of 1983 and features many of Talking Heads’ most memorable songs.

The updated version of Stop Making Sense initially premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival alongside a rare Q&A session by Byrne, Weymouth, Frantz, and Harrison—the first time they were all in the same room in 21 years. The film subsequently received a limited theatrical release. The four Talking Heads went on to give various group interviews in support of the updated Stop Making Sense but despite continued clamoring for a reunion performance, the band’s members have remained adamant that they do not intend to get back together.

Stop Making Sense will screen in IMAX theaters around the U.S. and select locations internationally for one day only on Wednesday, October 2nd. Find a full listing of participating IMAX screens and buy your tickets here.
