Widespread Panic has released its studio recording of borrowed Bloodkin track “Trashy”, one of five songs due to appear on the bands forthcoming release, Hailbound Queen. The nearly 10-minute recording is the second song to arrive from the new collection following “Blue Carousel“.

Bloodkin songs have long been part of the live Widespread Panic repertoire. “Trashy”, in particular, first entered the world of Panic following the death of its writer, Daniel Hutchens, during an all-Bloodkin set at Red Rocks in 2021. The dreamy slice of low-down reflection has gone on to become a regular at Panic shows in the time since, appearing 25 more times in the years since.

Coming on the heels of Snake Oil King, which marked the first new Widespread Panic studio album since 2015’s Street DogsHailbound Queen is set to arrive on November 8th in both vinyl (pylon orange) and digital formats. The collection is comprised of songs that the band has already incorporated into live sets including Bloodkin’s “Trashy”, “Halloween Face”, “Blue Carousel”—a song that JoJo Hermann brought to fruition 20 years after late guitarist Michael Houser left it unfinished—and two songs Panic debuted live on the same night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre last year, original composition “King Baby” and “Keep Me In Your Heart” by Warren Zevon.

Widespread Panic recently canceled all of its upcoming shows after guitarist Jimmy Herring was diagnosed with stage one tonsil cancer. Wishing all the best to Jimmy and the whole Panic family!
