Osees have announced a headlining tour of Australia, set to take place in February 2025 – almost exactly two years after they were last in the country. The tour announcement follows the American psychedelic garage rock outfit being listed on the line-up for Golden Plains‘ 2025 iteration, alongside the likes of PJ Harvey, Fontaines D.C., Thelma Plum, 2manydjs and Magdalena Bay. In addition to returning to Australia, Osees will also play a run of shows in New Zealand. The band will head to The Hollywood in Auckland on Friday, February 21st before playing Meow in Wellington the following day and wrapping up at The Yard in Raglan the day after that. Tickets for these shows will go on sale at 12pm local time on Friday, October 25th via Moshtix New Zealand.
Osees – ‘Funeral Solution’
Osees released their 28th studio album, Sorcs 80, in August 2024. Its release was preempted by two singles: ‘Cassius, Brutus & Judas’ in June, and ‘Earthling’ in July. It serves as the sixth LP the band have released under the Osees name, as bandleader John Dwyer has changed the band’s name multiple times across their 27-year career.
The band’s name began as Orinoka Crash Suite and remained so up until 2003, then became OCS until 2005, where it was briefly Orange County Sound briefly before becoming The Ohsees in 2006. An extra E was added later that year to turn the name into Thee Oh Sees, which the band retained until 2017. The “Thee” was dropped to become Oh Sees that year, and in 2019 the H was dropped to give us the band’s current name.
