As 2025 approaches, The Doors are gearing up for a major celebration of their 60th anniversary. Starting in November, the legendary rock band will roll out a series of limited-edition releases and special projects highlighting their enduring legacy with fresh perspectives on their storied career.

On November 22nd, The Doors will unveil The Doors 1967-1971, a 6-LP set featuring all six of the band’s original studio albums. This new release, part of Rhino Records’ highly acclaimed High Fidelity audiophile vinyl series, was cut directly from the original analog master tapes by renowned engineer Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio. Pressed on high-quality vinyl at Optimal Media, the package also includes heavyweight gatefold jackets adorned with rare photos and insightful liner notes from The Doors’ archivist David Dutkowski. Limited to just 3,000 copies, this exclusive release will be available at thedoors.com and rhino.com.

The Doors are also set to participate in Record Store Day’s Black Friday event on November 29th with the release of The Doors – Live in Detroit. This 4-LP set captures the band’s fiery May 8th, 1970, performance at Detroit’s Cobo Arena—one of the longest and most intense shows of their career. Available on vinyl for the first time ever, the concert, which ran an hour past curfew and resulted in the band being banned from the venue, features blistering renditions of blues classics like “Back Door Man”, Junior Parker’s “Mystery Train”, and Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads” alongside a number of extended Doors originals. Standout moments include a nearly 20-minute version of “Light My Fire” and a 17-minute take on “The End”.

The Doors’ 60th-anniversary celebration doesn’t stop there. The first-ever complete anthology dedicated to The Doors, Night Divides the Day, is set for release in early 2025 and delves deep into the band’s archives, offering a treasure trove of rare photography, personal artifacts, and archival materials. Robby Krieger and John Densmore lend their voices to the project through intimate interviews, while previously unpublished writings from Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek provide new insights into the band’s creative journey.

Night Divides the Day will also feature a foreword by Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, who performed alongside Densmore and Krieger in 2020, and an afterword by world-renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel. Limited to just 2,000 numbered box sets, each hand-signed by Densmore and Krieger, this edition will also include a 7” vinyl record containing rare demos of “Hello, I Love You” and “Moonlight Drive”, along with other historical memorabilia.
