Air have announced a surprise last-minute return to Australia for one night only, performing at Melbourne’s iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Wednesday, December 4th. The veteran electronic French band will be bringing the same production they brought to the Sydney Opera House for three exclusive performances earlier this year as part of the Vivid Live festivities, celebrating their acclaimed 1998 debut album Moon Safari by performing it in its entirety.
The show is taking place as part of the Always Live program for 2024, which has already announced Victoria-exclusive shows for such international acts as Jack White, St. Vincent and The Offspring. In a press statement, Always Live CEO Psyche Pane described the show as “an exciting highlight in an already jam-packed 17 days of live music across the state”. “It’s moments like these that capture the essence of what Always Live is all about,” she said. “[We’re] creating unforgettable music experiences for fans and artists alike.”
Air – ‘Sexy Boy’
Moon Safari was originally released on January 16th, 1998 via Source/Virgin. It sported three singles: ‘Sexy Boy’ in February, ‘Kelly Watch The Stars’ in May and ‘All I Need’ in November. The album was a best-seller in the UK, peaking at number six on the charts and achieving double Platinum certification. In Australia, the album peaked in the top 30 and was certified Gold.
Tickets for the show are set to go on sale from 10am AEDT on Tuesday, November 12th. There will be no pre-sale, with tickets available exclusively through Ticketek.
