Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott has announced his fifth almost annual Funky Holiday Spectacular, set to take place December 19th at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta with special guests including Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke), Duane Trucks (Widespread Panic), Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Mark Letieri (Snarky Puppy, The Fearless Flyers), and many more.
Presented by Good Times Productions, the funk-filled holiday celebration will offer a attendees a chance to get down to a wide range of funky classics, from James Brown and Stevie Wonder to Frank Zappa and Black Sabbath, all played by some of the top musicians in the live music scene.
Also among the heavy-hitting lineup are Will Montgomery, Emil Werstler, Grant Greene Jr., Jontavious Willis, Mark Raudabaugh (Sierra Hull, Donna the Buffalo), Matt Slocum (Warren Haynes Band, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Railroad Earth), Rhett Huffman (American Aquarium), Jordon Shalhoup, Dan Wytanis (Ghost Note), Mark Rivers (Tedeschi Trucks Band), Brenda Moore, Amanda Joy, Rob Lane, and Ruby Velle, along with more very special guests to be announced.
The program will include special mini-sets will be led by Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr and slide master Benji Shanks, as well as Widespread Panic drummer Duane Trucks, Drivin N Cryin’s Kevn Kinney, and a few surprise guests.
This growing tradition will be the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit this winter, especially as Scott’s Gov’t Mule bandmate/leader Warren Haynes takes a year off of his beloved Christmas Jam due to the destruction caused in Asheville by hurricane Helene.
The concert will also support good causes, with proceeds benefitting The Georgia Music Foundation and Backline.
