Taylor Swift Announces Surprise New Album ‘evermore’ Featuring Bon Iver, HAIM & The National

Taylor Swift will release her second surprise album of 2020, evermore, tomorrow, Friday, December 11. Swift described evermore, which features contributions from Bon Iver, HAIM and The National, as the sister album to folklore.

folklore came out in July and saw Taylor collaborate with Aaron Dessner of The National, Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Jack Antonoff. “To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs,” Swift explained of working with Dessner and Antonoff in an announcement of evermore on social media. “To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in.”

“I’ve never done this before. In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released,” Taylor continued. “There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning. I loved the escapism I found in these imaginary/not imaginary tales. I loved the ways you welcomed the dreamscapes and tragedies and epic tales of love lost and found into your lives. So I just kept writing them.”

evermore features 15 songs on the standard edition with two bonus tracks available on the deluxe physical edition. Those who purchase the digital standard edition will receive a download of the LP along with an exclusive digital booklet containing 16 photos and images. Swift will release evermore and a video for the album’s lead single, “Willow,” at midnight ET.
