Beyoncé continues to step up and provide aid to Americans struggling with the historic financial losses due to government-mandated COVID-19 workplace shutdowns.
Last week, the pop singer’s BeyGOOD foundation announced it would offer $5,000 grants to individuals and families who are facing the reality of possible home foreclosure or evection with the federal eviction moratorium set to expire at the end of December.
A statement shared to Beyoncé’s website last week reads,
This holiday season, while many are stressed with what they will do next regarding their housing, we are proud to share some GOOD news. Beyoncé is giving $5k grants to individuals and families facing foreclosures or evictions. All necessary documentation must be provided to the NAACP. Online Application process opens January 7, 2021, where 100 recipients will be selected and grants disbursed in late January. Round 2 will open in February.

The BeyGOOD foundation has been a proactive humanitarian force since the pandemic began. The non-profit arm of Beyoncé’s empire helped establish COVID testing sites around their native city of Houston, TX earlier this year. The foundation also teamed up with the NAACP to launch the BeyGOOD Small Business Impact fund which provided 600 small businesses to date with $10k grants to help withstand the economic fallout of the ongoing pandemic.
The eviction moratorium set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this year is scheduled to end on December 31st. According to reports, up to 14 million households across the country are already on the brink of facing eviction, with black and Latino households facing a higher percentage of financial losses due to being disproportionately affected by unemployment and COVID-19 infection rates.
