Psychedelic electronic duo Shpongle have released their new studio album in the form of a three-track EP entitled, Carnival Of Peculiarities. The new album featuring both Simon Posford and Raja Ram acts as the duo’s first studio release together since 2017’s Codex VI.
All three tracks included on Carnival Of Peculiarities stretch out to a slightly longer runtime than the average recording, with two of them – “Mycelium Labrynth” and “Carnival Of Peculiarities” stretching out to over nine minutes in length to offer a deeper, nearly-encompassing listening experience.
A statement shared with the album’s initial announcement earlier this year reads,
This extraordinary sonic voyage features the vivid storytelling, evocative harmonic fabric, and unique fusion of electronic and organic instruments that have made the name Shpongle synonymous with cutting-edge electronica, pushing the limits of musical creativity even beyond barriers already broken by this legendary project.
The Carnival of Peculiarities EP is a mini-album that’s maximal in content, covering the stylistic spectrum and creative range of a full-length release, raising the bars of both musical expression and electronic engineering – an unforgettable odyssey through Shpongleland.
