Iconic artist Van Morrison premiered “Only A Song,” a single featured on his forthcoming double album, Latest Record Project: Volume 1. Morrison’s 28-track record is due out via Exile/BMG on May 7.
“Only A Song” features a swinging groove accented by call-and-response vocals and saxophone blasts. Van Morrison previously previewed Latest Record Project: Volume 1 by sharing its title track.
Latest Record Project: Volume 1 marks the Northern Ireland-native’s 42nd album and follows 2019’s Three Chords & The Truth. Van Morrison put the bulk of the record together while locked down during the ongoing pandemic.
“I’m getting away from the perceived same songs, same albums all the time,” Morrison explained regarding Latest Record Project: Volume 1. “This guy’s done 500 songs, maybe more, so hello? Why do you keep promoting the same 10? I’m trying to get out of the box.”
