Late soul singer Charles Bradley’s fourth and final studio album Black Velvet will be released on November 9 via Dunham/Daptone Records. The LP features ten studio recordings that haven’t previously been issued including the single “Can’t Fight The Feeling.”
The Screaming Eagle Of Soul’s longtime collaborator Tommy “TNT” Brenneck produced Black Velvet. Charles Bradley recorded “Can’t Fight The Feeling” with Menahan Street Band around 2007 as part of sessions that would eventually yield his 2011 debut album No Time For Dreaming. “For some reason I always thought we hadn’t finished the vocal track but, to my surprise, not only was it finished, it was a powerful performance by Charles and the band is on fire to boot… Why it didn’t make No Time For Dreaming? I have no idea,” Brenneck said. Black Velvet also features new songs “Fly Little Girl” and “I Feel A Change” as well as a handful of covers and more. Stream “Can’t Fight The Feeling” below:
