Willie Nelson Shares Updated “I’ll Be Seeing You” To Encourage Vaccine Participation [Watch/Listen]

72

Willie Nelson has shared an updated rendition of “I’ll Be Seeing You” as part of a joint PSA between the Ad Council and Covid Collaborative to encourage Americans to get the vaccine. The song originally appeared on Nelson’s 1994 album, Healing Hands of Time.

In the brief 1:29 minute telling, Nelson’s voice is accompanied by a lone ukelele from Ari Hest. Though “I’ll Be Seeing You” was first penned by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal in the 1930s before debuting in the 1938 Broadway musical Right This Way, the song’s message has become as relevant as ever. As the end of the COVID-19 global pandemic comes into view while vaccine rollout continues across the nation, hope is alive once again that we’ll be face to face with our favorite entertainers—including the Red Headed Stranger—before too long.

“I am proud to partner on the AdCouncil and COVID Collaborative’s latest COVID-19 Vaccine Education PSA – singing ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ in a powerful reminder that before we can safely get back to the sports moments we miss, we must first help Americans get informed about the vaccines,” Nelson said in a statement with the track.
